Local law 97 is part of NYC’s Climate Mobilization Act. LL97 legislation. This legislation established total carbon emission guidelines for existing buildings larger than 25,000 square feet. This includes approximately 50,000 commercial and residential buildings across the NYC footprint. Building emission reductions will need to be in place beginning 2024 or face escalating penalties year over year. 

These reduction guidelines require buildings eligible for LL97 to begin reductions by 2024. And then reduce their carbon footprint by 40% before 2030, and 80% by 2050.

RPAC will assist you in creating an emission reduction plan for your properties in compliance with LL 97.  Buildings that do not submit an annual report or an emission reduction plan will be subject to escalating fines. Fines can range up to, and over 1 million dollars.
